The sport history of this ‘Carioca’ begins in the year 1996 at the age of 15 when Paulo started training Jiu Jitsu in his hometown of Barra. Paulo’s first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teacher was Totila Jordan, A.K.A Pitoco and Rogerio Poggio A.K.A Cabeca. At this young age Paulo “Seco” was supported and encouraged by his friends and family to pursue his career in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. A credit to his determination and love for the sport, Paulo’s skills quickly grew, and as a result, he became a champion in many regional competitions; it was through these successes that he was invited by his instructor Rogerio “Cabeca” to be part of the instructor’s team at Infight Barra where Paulo taught children and adult classes. On a mission to expand his horizons Paulo “seco” moved to the U.S.A. Upon arrival he began training under Master Ailson Brites A.K.A Jucao, a 5th degree black belt under Carlos Gracie Jr. It is under Master Ailson “Jucao” Brites tutelage that Paulo’s love and dedication toward teaching this beautiful art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has grown immensely and resulted in a life changing experience for Paolo and all those learning from him.
